A R&D Project Proposal

Generally speaking, to be successful, a R&D project proposal made in European cooperation must:

  • Gather several types of partners. Typically, they are: industrialists, research centres and universities.
  • Show a good representation of countries belonging to the European Union
  • Propose to develop an innovative subject of research.
  • Share adequately within the partnership the costs incurred by the research to be led.

The SMEs are also invited to set up projects proposals of R&D and are supported in this process by AST consortium.

Basic Rules

Here are the 10 rules given by AST members to be observed by any SME leader who wants to set up a project proposal and who wants to obtain good chances of success:

  1. The research proposal fits with eligibility criteria
  2. The proposal is led by a small enterprise
  3. Other SMEs are in the partnership
  4. Small enterprises benefit from a large part of proposal budget
  5. Research centres and universities are encouraged to participate Large industrialists are welcome as potential final end-users
  6. The research is short term and product oriented
  7. The proposal shows good potential for industrialisation
  8. Projects usually span over a two years period
  9. EU requested support is around € 1M (project total budget around € 2M)
  10. Each SME invests yearly no more than 5% of its GTO.
