RTD in European Cooperation |

THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK PROGRAM (FP) |
| |
The FP is the tool used by the European Commission to manage Research activities in Europe for the whole fields where Research is indisputably an essential activity (Biology, Environment, Health, Transport, etc.). It has an overall duration of 7 years and it defines the budget allocated to these Research Activities, the technical priorities and the rules of functioning.
The funds reserved for each Research activity are distributed thanks to regular Call for Proposals launched by the European Commission all along the FP life. These calls must be answered with RTD project proposals.
| |
| |
Today, the Calls for Proposals are released within the 7th Framework Program (FP7).

THE PROCESS OF THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS |
| |
| |
Industrialists, Research Centres, Universities, etc. working in the technical domain called, are invited to organise themselves into consortia which will set up RTD projects proposals. |
These proposals are then evaluated by independant experts, all coming from the industry and university field of the call domain. Then, one of the three following decision is taken: |
| |
The proposal fits with the Call and is eligible assuming no or minor changes; |
| |
The proposal fits with the call but needs important changes: a resubmission is needed but with substantial chances of success; |
| |
The proposal doesn't fit or needs too important changes: it is rejected and needs drastic changes to be resubmitted. |
