Within the European Commission, there is a clear political will to encourage SMEs participation into the EC funded RTD projects. The European Parliament fixed a target of 10 % of budget allocation to SMEs in every area of the 5th Framework Program. In the 6th Framework Program, the target is now increased to 15%. |

SCRATCH is in line with this wish of evolution and, since the 4th Framework Program, more than 50 projects from SMEs have been serviced by SCRATCH. Almost half of them have been retained for funding by the European Commission in the Aeronautical Programme, with a total budget of 45 MEuros. |
