Acoustic Radiation Of sMAll turbomachines

One of the major problem today is noise reduction and control, particularly in the aeronautical industry, where rotating machines represent an important source of noise, both from the main engines as from the auxiliary systems (ventilating and air conditioning, for example). If the mechanical noise sources are relatively well understoode and modelled, this is by far not the case for the very important aerodynamic noise sources, which are the main ojective of this project.
The main technical strategy consists in applying different levels of approximations, ranging from Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stroks (RANS) models with semi empirical information on the spectra of the pressure fluctuations, to Large Eddy Simulations (LES), where the spectra can be calculated.
