Autonomous Damage Detection and Vibration Control Systems

The aim of ADVICE is to develop a novel non-contact full-field NDT technology efficient to match realistic solicitation levels and industrial conditions for aeronautical production of composites materials/structures and their on-field maintenance. For that, optical non contact full-field NDT techniques will be anlysed for such.

Problems encountered with existing techniques are:
  1. Typical displacements occur with generally small solicitations applied on the object and that are not representative of the object working conditions.
  2. Measurement techniques require a stability which is a fraction of wavelength. They are then considered as sensitive to environmental perturbations and often require adapted environments.

ADVICE propose to remedy both problems by developing a digital holography technique on the basis of far infrared wavelength (10 µm). Holography at far infrared wavelength can be envisaged using direct recording of hologram on thermal camera with high resolutions and that appeared recently on the market. The hologram is then calculated through a digital holography numerical reconstruction algorithm. The digital holography in the far infrared has never been performed yet mainly because the thermal camera with high resolutions were made available recently. Our development will then clearly constitute a breakthrough in the field of NDT.
